Did you know that you can totally prepare for Chanukah just like you would prepare for any other Yom Tov? Yes. And yes again.
Chanukah can be a hectic time. Earlier dismissals, tired (read cranky) children (b’h so many different parties to attend!), high expectations (“what are we doing tonight Mommy??”) and less energy overall.
A stocked freezer with the Chanukah basics can definitely help. Donuts do freeze well. And even latkes too. You will be one step ahead of the game and be able to celebrate with everyone. But let’s do this one thing at a time.
Donuts: Our donuts experts here at BCP always prep their donuts in advance and fry them fresh. It’s simply the smart thing to do!
See all freezing donuts instructions here and also,
while you are at it, check out our favorite donut recipe of all time.
Latkes: Who knew? Latkes freeze well. You just need to know how to do it properly
and how to reheat them right. No more standing over a frying pan while your guests are entertaining themselves.
Churros: This one was a complete game changer. Last year, all of us enjoyed this new hack and loved serving a beautiful and delicious dessert, without too much last minute work. The churros were uniform and straight, the mess already cleaned up. Best of all, we were able to fry exactly the amount needed and then again, fry some more the following day. Here is the ultimate churro recipe.
Crispy Chicken: This one isn’t on the website, but you can find this popular recipe in Dinner Done. We discovered that you can freeze the chicken once it’s fried and prepare the sauce and reheat fresh, once you are ready to serve. So much easier! Recipe in Dinner Done, page 112.
