Why didn’t we think of this before? The one pan, no mess, family-friendly chicken dinner that everyone will love.
One of the team members recently asked the others, “Do you remember how long we used to spend cooking dinner?” As newlyweds, dinner used to take all day to make. Then we learned to make dinner in under an hour and now we’re down to making dinner in a few minutes! Perhaps it may not be as gourmet as we once made, but our goal these days is to be efficient and make something that most of the family enjoys.
This recipe was inspired by the garlic sesame chicken nuggets, the first recipe we ever posted on Between Carpools! That one-bowl chicken is still a reader favorite years later! It was also inspired by the Best Frozen French Fries, another one of BCP’s all-time most popular posts.
This recipes comes together in literally minutes. While it’s in the oven, you have a few minutes to pull together a salad and dinner is done!
Place chicken and fries on a sheet pan.
Sprinkle remaining ingredients on top.
Add the oil
and mix well.
You want the fries to be slightly crispy on the edges.
For those that want a lot more fries, we like to use a big sheet pan to fit the whole bag. Just season a bit more with oil, crumbs, paprika, and salt.

Yum! Will this work with regular fries? Or only shoe string
Mom of Boys says
Thicker fries need more baking time. Shoestring fries are ready at the same time as the chicken.
Love2Cook says
I made it with thicker fries – mixed regular and sweet potato cuz that’s what I had. Baked the fries for about 8 minutes, then added spices, crumbs, and chicken, mixed well, and baked for 17-18 minutes.

Can i do this with breadcrumbs instead of cornflake crumbs?
Debra says
Another really pleased review!
And my kids can be really picky if their shnitzel isn’t prepared exactly how they like it- and especially if it’s not fried.
Thanks for great and easy recipe!

This looks exciting! Will definitely try.
What’s this cool spatula you are using? (I’m sure it’s not even a Spatula)
Ruchi says
That is called a fish turner, a very flexible spatula.
Chana says
My kids devoured this and asked for it again! So simple and delicious! Thank you!
Chana says
Everyone devoured this, including picky eaters and especially picky schnitzel eaters. I used gluten free corn based breadcrumbs. My kids wanted to add cut up hotdogs so we did one tray with, one without and every bit was eaten. I’ll be making this again and again, maybe I’ll never have to fry schnitzel ! I was thinking this might also be yum with white fish for the nine days- we’ll see!
Adina says
Made this using gluten free breadcrumbs and it was delicious! This will definitely be added to our dinner rotation!

DG says
I add broccoli or squash to cover all the food groups and both options are yum! I make it at least once a week now, my kids love it!
Dina says
I made this twice in the betty. It came out delicious. I did the chicken for 10 minutes, flipping halfway. I took out the chicken and left the fries for another minute or two to crisp up. Best part of the betty is that I can make it fresh for hubby when he comes home, without much extra work!
Chana says
Made in Betty, all together, left it for 10 mins and didn’t open in-between. Came out heaven!!!! Crispy the fries and soft the chicken
Love this Recipe!!! says
YUM!!!!!!! And super simple to prepare!

Looks yummy! How many servings does this make?
R says
Just made this tonight. I used separate pans. The fries came out amazing. However the crumb mixture didn’t adhere to the chicken well at all. Any tips are welcome as I had high hopes for this recipe.
Between Carpools says
It’s supposed to be on the same pan. For separate recipes, make https://betweencarpools.com/secret-best-frozen-french-fries/ and https://betweencarpools.com/9×13-one-pan-poppers/
R says
That is interesting- keeping it in separate made the crumbs fall of the chicken? I only separated it after I mixed them together and it was too much for one pan, so I divided it. I will try again. Thanks
Between Carpools says
The crumbs don’t really stick to the chicken, but add a crunch that gives a similar feeling.
Devorah says
I used chicken wings and regular fries. It came absolutely delicious!!
To be repeated again in the near future.
Miki says
I make this all the time, I also make just the fries with the spices on top, my fam loves!
Leah Schapira says
We have this recipe for just the fries
https://betweencarpools.com/overnight-shtreimel-kugel/
malky says
can i make this in the morning and then heat up again for supper when i come home or does it have to be served immediately?
Leah Schapira says
I think the french fries and chicken would taste dry. Perhaps try prepping it in the morning, sticking it in the fridge and baking it fresh.
rivki says
thanks! this was an easy and amazing supper that was enjoyed by everyone!

I am so happy that this recipe actually met all my picky eater needs. The most picky eater friendly foods usually don’t go over well in my house. But this was next level. Everyone, from young to old enjoyed it. Thank you!!
