12 Dishes You’ll Want to Enjoy for Your Break-the-Fast Meal

Dreaming of food but can’t think straight enough to make a menu and start cooking for break-the-fast? We’ve made it easy.

What’s one of the items on your to-do list during a fast day? Is one of them whipping up some comfort foods for after the fast? Here are a couple of suggestions to cook or bake today, if you have the strength. And if you’re not fasting, they’re great options that the rest of your family would enjoy.

Start with Fresh Bread

Five minutes the night before, and I have a fresh hot meal for my family in the morning. Fresh bread is my solution to a busy life.Fresh bread is most welcome after a fast. Perhaps try an overnight no knead bread. Start it when you have energy (it needs at least 8 hours, so start it in the morning) and you’ll be rewarded with fresh bread after the fast. Or try this spelt bread (this one only needs 1 hour to rise and about ½ hour to bake).

Or…Something Easier (and Cheesier) Than Fresh Bread

Chipotle Buns This cheese has so much flavor, you don’t need anything else other than your dough and the cheese to create these buns! Roll out 1 pound dough to the size of a baking sheet. Cover with slices of Natural and Kosher Chipotle Cheese (the more, the cheesier). Roll up, jelly-roll style. Slice 12 buns and place in a 9-x13-inch pan. Bake at 425ºF for 20-25 minutes. This is even more practical! Once we’re talking about bread, use your favorite challah dough, or store-bought pizza dough and make these amazing cheesy breads in minutes.

Do You Like to Break-the-Fast with…Soup?

Add soup to the bread and it’s a complete meal. Try the (almost) zero-calorie Minestrone Soup or the dairy Basil Pea Soup.

Or How About Comfort Food?

Efrat’s 2 Tone Potatoes is comfort food at its best. And we’ve never heard anyone say no to some Baked Ziti.

A Pastry Alongside a Coffee Always Works

Babka Buns or Muffins – one of them is a must to enjoy alongside the first coffee of the day, or should we say night.

And If You Need That Filling Main Dish…

Cauliflower Parmesan or Honey Mustard Salmon – 2 quick easy basics for a main dish.

And What If You Don’t Want to Cook At All?

Really can’t think of cooking anything, but want something a little more gourmet than a bowl of cereal and milk? Try this Savory Yogurt Bowl.

What do you like to serve after a fast?
