Our Team’s Top 21 BCP Weeknight Dinners

Need some weeknight dinner inspiration right about now? These are the family-friendly dinners our families love.

“When you’re opening up the app or website to prepare dinner on a weekday, which recipes are you most likely looking up?” I asked the team one day.

It didn’t take more than a few minutes for the links to come rolling in. Yes, we have Dinner Done. But there’s lots of gems that we prepare very often for our families here on the BCP website…ones that we make over, and over, and over again.

These might be recipes that we go-to weekly, or biweekly…and plenty we already know by heart because we’ve already made them so many times (a testament to just how easy they are…and psst, exact amounts of ingredients is not always so important). But what can we do if that’s what our families really love?

And, yes–these are real life dinners. They’re all simple and use mostly basic ingredients (nothing very exotic on this list!).

Dinner in a Bowl

This isn’t a recipe, but more inspiration that we use to create easy dinners that looks amazing and tempting.

Beef and Broccoli

This is the number one dinner that’s made by all of us these days, it ended up being voted by each of us as one of our top family favorite dinners. You can easily replace the chicken with the beef, and Shaindy also throws in a can of corn occasionally.

Pesto Chicken Caesar Salad

It’s one of those one-dish meals that we love with loads of flavor. It’s great together, but you can also separate the components to suit picky eaters.

How to Make the Easiest and Best Shawarma Chicken

Quick Shawarma Chicken

The quickest shawarma dinner you will make. Freeze it so you have it as needed, or simply prep quickly for dinner right now.

Sheet Pan Chicken Shawarma

In Dinner Done we upgraded this recipe with a lot more seasoning. Regardless which version you make, it’s always a fresh dinner that everyone loves.

One Bowl Garlic Sesame Baked Schnitzel

We have a few baked schnitzels. This is the first one we posted, and it’s still a classic. One bowl, no need to dip and dredge. We also shared this in Dinner Done.

Etty’s Oven Baked Schnitzels

Our kids voted this baked schnitzel as the baked schnitzel that most tastes fried. We also shared it in the Best of Kosher cookbook.

Smoky Baked Schnitzel

One more baked schnitzel version. Everyone loves that smokey flavor …

Grilled Schnitzel Chicken

There is no better grilled chicken than this one. We know, that’s a bold statement to make, but since sharing the recipe both on BCP and in Dinner Done, thousands of you agreed that this is perfection and the solution to boring grilled chicken! We freeze small bags/ containers with the spice mixture. It defrost in minutes and can be mixed with the chicken for an easy, no-prep dinner.

Grilled Chicken Schnitzel - It’s Not Fried But It’s So Good No One Minds. Your kids love chicken cutlets, but they really prefer them breaded and fried. This version of grilled chicken is so flavorful, they won’t mind that you didn’t fry them.

BBQ Poppers

The most popular recipe in Dinner Done is our oven baked hot poppers. Here is another version that’s just as quick and easy to pull together.

Asian Chicken Fingers

As much as we like baked schnitzel, frying schnitzel is still a family favorite and this one, full of flavor, just takes it all up a notch.

Sweet Buff Sandwiches

A great “takeout” sandwich easily made at home.

Meatballs and Spaghetti

This became “Dr. Pepper” meatballs in Dinner Done, and it’s still that family-friendly dish that our families request on repeat.

No Bean Chilli

This freezes great, and you can easily reheat it again and again, making it a fantastic dinner for families that have dinner time staggered (are you one of those moms who serve dinner all afternoon and night?).

Gorgeous Salmon Crudo

Yes, this gorgeous dish is another family favorite! If your family has gourmet taste buds, please go for it!

Maple Salmon

The sauce is freezer-friendly so you can make a big batch, store in containers, defrost, and dump it over fish for the dish that will become your fish go-to.

Syrian Calsones

Perfect that single dish that’s the most universally loved in Syrian households and a mainstay on the menu…and you should try it too if you have a family that favors dairy dinners over meat! (No exotic ingredients!)

Haven’t you always wanted a recipe for a good cream of chicken soup? No need to wait any longer...this is the soup everyone in the family just loves.

Cream of Chicken Soup

This recipe, back from 2019, is one of our favorite soups. It’s a great, wholesome meal too. The ingredient list is so surprisingly simple for such a well-liked, rich soup. One tip: peel the zucchini and no one will be the wiser!

Tomato Soup with Dumplings

Another soup that can be a meal that our families love! Kids love fishing out those little dumplings out of the soup and tomato soup is a safe family-friendly one.

Bowl of Tomato Soup with Dumplings

9×13 Confit Rice

If you have extra garlic confit from Shabbos, you can have this elevated side dish ready with barely any effort. Skip the tomatoes if you don’t think the kids will approve.

9×13 Mushroom Barley Chicken

It might not look so pretty, but it’s hard to explain how delicious and comforting this is. The barley plumps up, flavored by the chicken, and becomes so soft and creamy–almost like a risotto. Plus, you get your main and side dish in one 9×13.

Is there a replacement for sweet and sour sauce for those that don’t in the USA

Are you asking about the Sweet Buff Sandwiches? Read the comments on that post here; someone used duck sauce for sweet and sour.

I made the one bowl baked garlic and sesame chicken tonight, and it was a winner! Which isn’t so typical here. I was telling my family that I got the recipe from a website of 5 moms that got the 20 best recipes together and made a post. My husband asked what are the other recipes?! I’ll definitely be trying the others!
