It’s a tricky meal. It’s shalosh seudos time-when we’re typically serving lighter foods. But it’s also the last meal before the fast. We asked our readers for ideas: what are you serving to start the fast on Shabbos?
Besides for ideas, people also sent us some tips, like:
It’s not good to have protein before a fast as protein uses more water to digest and can actually dehydrate you. It’s best to have complex carbs.
Adequately salt your food. A lot of people think they need to cut out salt before a fast, but salt actually helps draw water into the cells and helps with water retention (you obviously don’t want overly salty food, but as much salt as you’d usually use is fine!)
Here are your ideas:

I found the following betweencarpool post helpful as well: https://betweencarpools.com/the-most-essential-tips-for-an-easy-fast-and-a-healthy-break-the-fast/
We can’t serve fleishigs for this meal so I’m confused by the meat suggestions…
I just read in the halachos that eating meat is allowed… maybe double check with your Rav. Here’s the link to the halachos of Shabbos before Tisha B’av:

Thank you I did not realize this!
